Conversations in Sculpture: Jonathan Ames

The annual series Conversations in Sculpture offers encounters between authors and pieces in the Sondra and Marvin Smalley Sculpture Gardem.
On June 2, author Joanthan Ames will be reading from his work and engage in conversation with the audience. Introductory remarks will be given by AJU’s Chief Curator, Dr. Rotem Rozental.
Ames is the author of nine books: I PASS LIKE NIGHT; THE EXTRA MAN; WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE?; MY LESS THAN SECRET LIFE; WAKE UP, SIR!; I LOVE YOU MORE THAN YOU KNOW; THE ALCOHOLIC (a graphic novel); THE DOUBLE LIFE IS TWICE AS GOOD; and YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE. He is also the creator of two television shows: BORED TO DEATH (HBO) and BLUNT TALK (STARZ). His novels, YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE, starring Joaquin Phoenix, and THE EXTRA MAN, starring Kevin Kline, have been adapted as films. Ames, the winner of a Guggenheim Fellowship, lives in Los Angeles and in the distant past had two amateur boxing matches, fighting as “The Herring Wonder.”
