Cross Sections III: A Day of Art Events at AJU, June 30

Artist Talk with Orr Herz, 1pm
The Project Room
Moderated by AJU’s Chief Curator, Rotem Rozental. Held on the occasion of the solo show Compressor Cycle.

One Day Non-Gluing Book Technique, 2-3:30pm
Instructor: B. Neimeth
Tuition: $45

This 1.5 hour workshop will begin by briefly showing example zine and chapbooks that demonstrate the technique that will be taught to get a feel for their various aesthetics. We will focus on bookmaking that doesn’t require glue. The student will learn about bookmaking tools, basic principles and three techniques to create their own chapbooks and zines. Non-glue book techniques: Stab and Stitch Binding/Japanese Binding, Poster Fold books (basic accordion book), and Saddle Stitch Binding (typically used for chapbooks and zines).

Afternoon of Performances, 3-7pm
Sondra and Marvin Smalley Sculpture Garden

A new commission by director, choreographer and dramaturg, Diana Wyenn, Artistic Director of Temple Israel of Hollywood, and a member of the Institute for Jewish Creativity.

Performers will lead participants on a guided, unexpected tour of the Sondra and Marvin Smalley Sculpture Garden.

Suggested donation, $15.
