NEW! SORAYA SARAH NAZARIAN PROGRAM IN THE FINE ARTS PRESENTS:
This workshop will begin by briefly showing example zine and chapbooks that demonstrate the techniques that will be taught to get a feel for their various aesthetics.
We will focus on bookmaking that doesn’t require glue. The students will learn about bookmaking tools,
basic practices and three techniques to create their own chapbooks and zines.
Non-Glue Book Techniques: Stab and Stitch Binding/ Japanese Binding, Poster Fold books (basic accordion book), and Saddle Stitch Binding.
About the Instructor:
B. Neimeth is a multimedia artist living in Los Angeles. She works between the space of photography, writing, sound and craft arts including bookmaking and whittling.
She holds a Masters in Fine Arts in Photography and Media from the California Institute of the Arts. She has participated in the Tropical Labs residency in Singapore and the at land’s edge visual research fellowship in Los Angeles. Her work has been shown internationally and locally at Sloan Projects and Human Resources in Los Angeles, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Singapore, and The Center for Sex and Culture, San Francisco. Her work has been published in the Los Angeles Review of Books Quarterly Journal and is part of the collections in the California Institute of the Arts and Yale University Libraries.
