Revital Somekh-Goldreich is a Judaic artist-cum-scholar who works in stained-glass and metal. She started teaching in the Israeli Defense Force, where she was one of the first women artillery officers. After receiving a BA in Architecture from the Technion in Haifa, she traveled around the world, settling in Los Angeles, where she was licensed as a CPA and became an executive at Mayer Hoffman McCann. Revital trained accounting teams during the week while serving as Art Director for Leo Baeck Temple School on Sundays. In 2008, she reinvented herself as a full-time artist. Winning awards from the Israeli American Council and Hadassah for her unique brand of Judaic artwork, Revital proceeded to teach biblical texts through art in congregations around California and Israel, at AJU’s Brandeis Collegiate Institute, at CSUN, and more. She is currently leading the Creation Journey© at Shomrei Torah Synagogue; a seminal stained-glass artwork, co-created with the community and inspired by a year-long study with her. She recently completed her thesis, Artists and Art-Viewers as Biblical Commentators, toward an MA in Judaic Studies and Interfaith Relations at the Academy for Jewish Religion, CA.
