Lunch and Learn with Raida Adon and Rotem Rozental

February 21, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Please join AJU’s Chief Curator and Assistant Dean of the Whizin Center, Rotem Rozental, for a conversation with artist Raida Adon about her work.

Presented by the Soraya Sarah Nazarian Program in the Fine Arts, in partnership with UCLA Y&S Nazarian Center for Israel Studies.

Born in Akko in northern Israel to a Jewish father and a Muslim mother, Adon’s artworks emerge from her complex biography, addressing conflicted nations and the relationship between two interrelated societies. The image of the woman is a recurring motif in her work, as a metaphor for the post-1948 geographic space of Israel/Palestine and reflecting the artist’s own quest for rootedness, while alluding to many refugee crises. Adon is a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. She has shown work and performances at museums as well as theatre festivals around the world.

Raida Adon will participate in the symposium Alternative Narratives, organized by UCLA Y&S Nazarian Center for Israel Studies, on February 19. Learn more here.
