Soraya Sarah Nazarian Program in the Fine Arts
Program Description:
Students will learn to use stone carving tools and all technical instruction to working with stone. The class also includes discussions of aesthetic approaches from the Renaissance to post-modern times to help students develop their own personal style and artistic expression. Basic tools and equipment are provided on loan to first-time students. Students supply their own stone, with advice from the instructor.
- For the first class, please bring following items, all of which may be purchased at a local hardware or home improvement store: goggles for eye protection, ear protection, work gloves, sturdy comfortable shoes, work apron/smock and dust mask
Instructor: Michael Tine
Michael Tine received his BFA in Painting from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and his MFA in Sculpture from the University of Wyoming, Laramie. He has exhibited regionally and nationally.
